Preschool Program

MSGA offers three fantastic styles of preschool classes.  The first, Mom/Dad & Me, allows the parents to participate in the class.  This class is designed with the cognitive development of our youngest athletes in mind.  Our other classes transition towards more of the typical recreational gymnastics class, where the young ones learn to venture away from mom and dad.  In all of our classes, we value the balance of teaching gymnastics in a developmentally appropriate way and having fun while doing so!

Tiny Tots

3&4 yrs | 45 minutes | Co-ed
Tumble Tikes
4&5 yrs | 45 minutes | Co-ed

This is where the young ones start to venture out on their own.  Building on what is learned in the Mom/Dad & Me classes, the gymnast will participate in class while parents and guardians remain in our viewing area.  These classes focus on building self-confidence and independence while developing gymnastics fundamentals.

In this class, parents/guardians are encouraged to watch from the waiting area.  It is just as much of a challenge for the children to step away from their parents as it is for parents to watch their children go off on their own for the first time.  During the class, however, the students get to visit briefly for “break time”.  This allows the student to “return home” before venturing back out into the gym.

Similar to the You and Me class structure, students will begin with a warm-up song and stretch, followed by an activity geared towards the development of gross motor skills, as well as socialization skills.

Now that your little superstar is a bit older, our obstacle courses will begin to take on new dimensions as we challenge our tiny tots and tumble tikes with age and ability appropriate courses.  Forward and backward rolls, the beginnings of handstands, splits, pullovers, walking on a balance beam, swinging on a bar, and learning their jumps, this is all just the beginning of the wonderful world of gymnastics that starts to unfold in these classes.

Like the You and Me, classes wrap up with time on one of our trampoline surfaces, some fun in the foam pit and stamps to celebrate their efforts and behavior in class!

You & Me

18 mo. to 3 yrs | 45 minutes
Co-ed with parent

Designed with the developmental stages of our young superstars in mind, this class allows for the parents or guardians to participate, hands-on.  The young athletes will develop hand-eye coordination through games and activities, as well as skill development, balance, and strength through basic gymnastics activities.

Parents/guardians are taught and encouraged to learn how to safely spot their children through skills.  This class is a perfect way for both athlete and parent to step out of their comfort zone and explore the excitement of being a gymnast.

Each class will start with a warm-up song that will not only get the child moving but also it will help your little superstar develop the all-important skills of listening and following directions.  After a brief time of stretching, the class will engage in a fun activity geared towards developing motor skills.  Ribbons, scarves, sticks, hula hoops and more; each week will be different from the previous one.

From there the class will begin to work on their balance and strength as they learn basic gymnastics skills via an obstacle course which could incorporate bars, beams, and rings, oh my! And finally, the class will wrap up with working on our jumps on one of the trampoline surfaces, as well as playing in our colorful foam pit.
